Ronald D. Moore's GOD OF WAR Prime Video TV Series Reportedly Begins Filming in March 2026

It looks like Amazon’s long-awaited God of War TV series is finally moving toward production. According to Nexus Point News, the streamer is planning to start filming the live-action adaptation of God of War in March 2026.

That means fans will still be waiting a while before they see Kratos and Atreus on screen, but casting announcements could be right around the corner.

The series will kick off with a 10-episode first season that directly adapts the events of God of War. This direction suggests Amazon is skipping the original Greek mythology trilogy and spin-offs, diving straight into the Norse saga.

It’s also reported that production will take place in Vancouver, Canada, and that casting is “currently underway.” The plan is for the show to run at least two seasons to cover the full Norse storyline, which could include the events of God of War Ragnarök.

The project was first announced back in December 2022, and it’s taken four years for the adaptation to finally enter production.

Ronald D. Moore is officially serving as showrunner, stepping in after the series initially had a different creative team attached. With Moore at the helm, Amazon seems serious about giving Kratos’ story the scale and weight it deserves.

While there’s still no release date, fans can look forward to the streamer delivering another high-profile video game adaptation. Amazon is also working on a series based on Life is Strange, signaling that their push into gaming IPs is far from over.

The wait for Kratos’ small-screen debut may be long, but with filming set for 2026 and casting now underway, God of War is finally coming to life.
