ROOM Star Jacob Tremblay Joins Shane Black's THE PREDATOR
Hot on the heels of Thomas Jane potentially joining Shane Black's take on The Predator, the movie has added an actor who's a bit more pint-sized.
THR reports that Jacob Tremblay, who broke out with a staggering performance in Room a couple of years ago, has been hired to play the son of Boyd Holbrook's character. The Narcos star is playing "an ex-Marine who discovers the existence of fierce aliens but finds that no one believes they exist," while Tremblay's character will be "autistic and bullied in school but becomes a key player in the fight due to his preternatural ability to learn languages." Sounds like this movie could be a more action-heavy exploration of the themes of necessary communication found in last year's Arrival. In a world in which the White House is shutting down communication between the EPA and citizens of the country, I imagine the importance of communication is going to become a recurring theme in movies over the next few years.
Black co-wrote The Predator with his Monster Squad co-writer Fred Dekker, and filming is set to begin next month with Holbrook, Tremblay, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, and Olivia Munn officially on board.
