Rooster Teeth's GEN:LOCK Animated Series Gets a Motion Poster and a 2019 Release

Roughly a month ago, we learned about gen:LOCK, a new anime-style show from Rooster Teeth. The teaser showcases some mecha, so I’m sold, but the synopsis makes this sound even better!

In gen:LOCK, Earth’s last free society is on the losing side of a global war, and recruits a diverse team of young pilots to control the next generation of mecha—giant, weaponized robot bodies. These daring recruits will find, however, that their newfound abilities come at no small cost. As Chase leaves behind his life as a fighter pilot to become the first candidate for the program, he finds his endurance, as well as his very identity, will be tested beyond anything he ever imagined.

Another point in gen:LOCK’s favor is the fact that the main character will be voiced by Michael B. Jordan. It was originally thought that the show would be released sometime in 2018, but it looks like Rooster Teeth has decided to push it back just a little bit. According to Gray, who is the head of Rooster Teeth Animation, they have decided to release gen:LOCK in January 2019.

Let’s talk release schedule. Rooster Teeth has a lllloooootttttt of cool stuff that they are trying to balance over the next months (and years). Taking all that into account, the company has decided to start 2019 with a bang - and opening the year with gen:LOCK is the best way to do it. Thus, gL now has a release target of January 2019. We’re still kicking around some fun ideas about how we might get some genlockiness into the world before 2018 is out, though.

I’m excited for the premiere of this new show, and I have faith that it will be amazing. Check out this animated poster video for the series:
