Rosa Salazar Says She Would Play Alita in ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL Until Her Last Breath

Alita: Battle Angel was a film project that I’d been waiting to see James Cameron finally get around to making for years. Well, he finally got it made with director Robert Rodriguez and they delivered a film that turned out as awesome as I hoped it would be! I loved it!

While the film didn’t demolish any box office records, it was still a great film and it did have a decent box office run. Fans of the the film have been hoping for a sequel, but with Disney buying Fox, who knows if that’ll ever happen.

But, the star of the film, Rosa Salazar, who played Alita hopes that a sequel does happen, and in an interview with /Film, she explained that that she would play the character until her last breath.

“I would play Alita ‘til my last breath. I would, and thanks to the performance capture technology, I probably could.”

Yep, she totally could play the character again and not show any signs of aging thanks to performance capture tech. She goes on to encourage the fans to show their support for the film by buying the film now that it’s been made available for home release. When asked if she’s heard anything in regards to the sequel, she said:

“Not yet, but buy those Blu-rays. On Amazon. But no, I haven’t heard anything yet.”

She goes on to talk about the Disney and Fox merger, saying:

“Yeah, I mean, they had a crazy merger. People are gaining jobs, people are losing jobs. The whole Disney/Fox acquisition is so involved, this isn’t the right time for me to call Alan Horn and be like, ‘Hey bro, I know you got a lotta stuff going on, but like what about Alita 2?’”

I hope that one day she does call up Alan Horn and open up the conversation with, “Hey bro!” If a sequel to Alita does happen, it’s not going to be anytime soon. I just want to see this story continue. I’d love for Cameron and Rodriguez to get to make the trilogy they initially mapped out for Alita, so if you’re a fan of the film, go spend money on a copy of the film for yourself!
