Rosamund Pike to Star in WHEEL OF TIME Series Adaptation for Amazon

Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, State of the Union) has been cast in the series adaptation of the Wheel of Time fantasy novels as “Moiraine, a member of the powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai.” The series is being adapted for Amazon by executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hemlock Grove). Apparently this book series has been shopped around for many years, but has finally found the right home at Amazon.

Variety Reports the following synopsis:

Based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling fantasy novels, “The Wheel of Time” is set in a high fantasy world where magic exists, but only certain women are allowed to access it. The story follows Moiraine as she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, a powerful individual who will either save humanity or destroy it.

I’ve never read this book series, but it sounds like it could make for an interesting series. Have you read it? Is Pike a good fit for Moiraine? Who else would you like to see cast in the series?
