Rosario Dawson Confirms AHSOKA Season 2 Has Begun Filming With First BTS Photo

Production on Ahsoka Season 2 is underway. Rosario Dawson, who plays the beloved Force-wielding ex-Jedi Ahsoka Tano, just dropped the first behind-the-scenes photo from the set, confirming that cameras are now rolling on the highly anticipated second season.

While the photo itself keeps things under wraps, it does give fans a glimpse of Dawson back in costume, well, at least her silhouette, and the unmistakable outline of the character.

This news follows last week’s Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Lucasfilm teased that filming was imminent. Now that it’s officially started, excitement is building fast, especially with Season 2 shaping up to continue the legacy of Star Wars Rebels in live-action form.

With Ezra (Eman Esfandi), Hera (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Chopper, and the recently teased Zeb Orrelios all returning, the full Ghost crew is coming together again.

One of the most talked-about reveals during the Celebration panel was the casting of Rory McCann (Game of Thrones) as Baylan Skoll, stepping in for the late Ray Stevenson.

“Baylan is important. He’s the parallel to Ahsoka, and that’s a parallel that’s got to continue,” said series creator Dave Filoni. “[Rory's] whole focus is to not let Ray down and to not let you down. The Force is with him.”

Filoni also dropped another surprise, with Admiral Ackbar set to appear in Season 2 and is set to “go head-to-head” with none other than Grand Admiral Thrawn. That’s right, mon calamari vs. master tactician. This is going to be wild!

There’s still a lot we don’t know, but the pieces are falling into place. With production now underway, and the promise of more Rebels legacy, new threats, and Force-fueled drama, Ahsoka Season 2 is clearly ready to take things to another level.

Filoni is also promising fans something we’ve all been starving for… an actual all-out Star Wars war. He teased: “I'll just say what it is ‘cause they came all this way, and I know what they really want to talk about which is what's in season two.

“So, half of it is a really really big battle. There is going to be a war in our Star Wars. Like an all out, throwdown on a scale as best as I can do it, as best as Jon and I can afford it because we want that.”

Ahsoka Season 2 drops in 2026.
