Rosario Dawson Confirms Her Netflix Marvel Character Was Cut From SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY
This is a big year for Marvel. The two most-anticipated films in quite some time are Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, and the studio has done a decent job of keeping some aspects of these films a secret.
The casts of both films are stacked, and we know there are still some surprise characters whose stories will unfold within the film, but unfortunately, one actor who filmed a scene for Brand New Day ended up on the cutting room floor.
Rosario Dawson, who played Claire Temple in every Marvel Netflix show — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and Luke Cage, actually was cast in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where she reprised her role and became MCU official, but the scene she shot didn’t make it through the editing process.
Dawson, who was asked about her Marvel role in an appearance at GalaxyCon, said she "shot a scene" for Brand New Day, and one attendee said there was a "collective gasp of excitement" at the reveal, but then Dawson added that it "got cut out." The crowd’s excitement was followed quickly by "a collective groan" in disappointment.
But knowing that she was originally intended for her MCU debut, it does make me wonder if she might appear in the next season of Daredevil: Born Again. Season 3 is due to be released in March 2027, so I guess we will find out then.
