Rosario Dawson in Talks to Join Cast of NEW MUTANTS X-Men Spinoff Film

Rosario Dawson is already a very integral part of Marvel's Netflix Universe, and may be doubling down and joining Marvel's X-Men universe. Dawson already plays Dr. Clarie Temple, a character that binds the Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist series together. Now Dawson is in negotiations to join the cast of Fox's Marvel movie franchise, the X-Men spinoff New MutantsShe would join Witch and Split star Anya Taylor-Joy and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams who have already been cast in the young-adult superhero movie.

Josh Boone (The Fault In Our Stars) will direct the X-Men spinoff that will focus on the adventures of a diverse group of teens dealing with their newfound mutant powers. It was recently reported that the film would be a "full-fledged horror film" and this is what it would be about:

"Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world — they’re just trying to save themselves."

According to THR, Dawson is in talks to play Dr. Cecilia Reyes "a medical doctor who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself. The character assumes a mentor role for the group of fledgling heroes."

New Mutants is scheduled to hit theaters on April 13, 2018.

What do you think of this casting choice? Is it a bad choice to cast someone that is already well established in a different Marvel property? Let us know in the comments.
