Rosario Dawson on DAREDEVIL Season 2, The Punisher, and Marvel Crossovers

There's a lot to look forward to in Daredevil Season 2, especially with The Punisher joining in on the action. Things are still in the process of coming together for Daredevil's next action-packed journey, and in a recent interview with MTV, Rosario Dawson talks about the upcoming season, her character Claire, the inclusion of The Punisher and potential Marvel crossovers.

Talking about her character she says:

“She’s funny, she’s wry, she’s strong — she’s built for that world, because she’s great under pressure. She’s someone — hero or not — you’d want to have in a dire situation… I really just liked her arc all the way through.
“I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes, because her eyes have been opened up to this other world — and she’s crossed the line. You know, this is someone who helps people, and she’s been violent now but seeing the need for it. I think there’s a lot that she’s having to grapple with, and I think that’s what’s exciting about using this show to explore street-level characters: it makes it that much more closer to us.”

She goes on to give some insight into why her character in the TV series is different from that in the comic:

“Even just having Night Nurse and Claire Temple come together was already changing the Marvel Universe. So it just feels like, A) I finally get to join Marvel. I get to do it in a way that’s completely altering the universe, which is awesome. And then, B) I have no idea where it’s going to go, because here I was having a fling with Matt Murdock, and now Luke Cage is coming up, and Jessica Jones.”

When it comes to Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle character coming into the series, these are her thoughts:

“That’s going to raise the stakes so much more, because Matt Murdock almost behaves like the Punisher in the first season. [Matt] crosses the line quite often, so it’s going to be really interesting to see how they differentiate them and where that goes.”

I'm really interested in how Marvel handles this dynamic. It's definitely going to make for some great storytelling and character development. She goes on to talk about the first season a little bit and possibly bringing in some new heroes into the mix, which has been rumored.

“It’s very realistic-feeling. You know, they have that whole ’Old Boy’ kind of fighting style, but it’s great. It’s really fun to see people miss punches and get tired. They’re people. So I’m very curious to see how that develops, as we’re maybe starting to bring in some of the more fantastical heroes that we keep alluding to.”

Dawson then kind of teases that she will be the Nick Fury of the Netflix series universe, the character that will connect the other heroes and shows. She explains:

“I have no idea how they’re wanting me to come back or in which way, shape or form, but it’s nice to know that I’ve got a character who does kind of string everyone together and bring all those worlds together.”

Daredevil Season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2016, and I'm incredibly excited to see how it all comes together. Don't let us down Marvel!
