Rumor: Christopher McQuarrie Worked On ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY Script

As everyone excitedly counts down the minutes until Disney and Lucasfilm release the new full trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens tonight, Latino Review has its eyes ahead to the next adventure that will take place in a galaxy far, far away.

Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to hit theaters in December of 2016, so we're going to start hearing a lot more about it over the coming months. Today, LR reports that Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation writer/director Christopher McQuarrie did a two week pass on the script for Rogue One. Gary Whitta was originally announced as the film's writer, and then he left the project and was replaced by Chris Weitz.

It's not uncommon for multiple writers to come in and do work on big movies like this, especially for small periods of time. They're often brought in to punch up the dialogue or build on character moments; from my understanding, it's very rare that someone would be brought on board for two weeks and asked to drastically alter the story. So if anyone's worried, there's really no cause for that at this point. We'll keep you posted if we hear any more updates about Rogue One, but in the meantime, I think it's an easy guess that McQuarrie's contributions will only improve the final movie.
