Disney's Live-Action THE LITTLE MERMAID Casts Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay in Major Roles

Now that we’ve all heard the news that Melissa McCarthy is up for the role of Ursula in the live-action remake of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, now we’ve got a bit more news to share.

Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, Ocean’s 8) is in talks to play the seagull Scuttle, which would be hilarious and Jacob Tremblay (The Room) is looking to take on the role of the tropical fish Flounder, the best friend to princess Ariel. He would make a very sweet Flounder.

Rumors have also been swirling around the role of Ariel. Spider-Man: Far From Home actress Zendaya recently dyed her hair red, which she said was for the press tour for Spider-Man, and paying homage to her originally red-headed character, Mary Jane Watson. But it sure does have fans wondering… Could she be the next Little Mermaid?
