Rumored Details For CAPTAIN MARVEL Includes a Possible Appearance By Captain Mar-Vell

We got our first major details for Captain Marvel at Comic-Con last month. We know the story will be set in the 90s and that Nick Fury will be involved with the story. It was also revealed that the Kree and Skrull war would tie into the story that is going to be told. Thanks to MCU Exchange, we have some additional details on what else we might see in the film. These are just rumors at the moment, but it would be cool if they turned out to be true.

With Captain Marvel being absent from Avengers: Infinity War, fans have been wondering where this powerful character is when the Galaxy needs her the most. Since her big MCU debut will be set in the 90s, it means that she would have been a superhero for about 20 years. You'd think she'd show up at some point! Apparently, her absence has something to do with the Quantum realm, which was introduced to us in Ant-Man. The report explains:

So where has Carol been all this time? We are told that the comments by Marvel Stuido’s physics consultant, Dr. Spiros Michalakis, about the Quantum Realm playing a major part in Captain Marvel have an awful lot to do with where she’s been and why she sat out the events of Infinity War. With Captain Marvel releasing between Infinity War and the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4, we believe we have an answer to Danvers’ location and see her return to join the fray in Avengers 4.

The report goes on to say that a major character could show up in the film. That character is the Kree hero Captain Mar-Vell.  It makes sense that Captain Mar-Vell would be in the film because In the comics, Danvers is saved by Mar-Vell after a Kree machine explodes and exposes her to Kree radiation. In the process, Danvers is infused with Mar-Vell's superhuman powers. Here's what the report says:

Though we don’t know if we’ll be seeing him on Earth as Dr. Lawson, we are told to expect to see a version of the Psyche-Magnitron accident from the comics and that accident will be responsible for altering her DNA and giving her powers. Furthermore, we are told that her unique half-Kree/half-human DNA will be used to explain why she hasn’t appeared to age since her disappearance, meaning they won’t need to age/de-age Brie Larson. Just like Thor and the Asgardians before her, Carol won’t necessarily age in the MCU.

The report also adds that early drafts of the script "include references to her functioning as Ms. Marvel and that there will be a version of her early Ms. Marvel costume seen onscreen."

We've still got a long way to go before Captain Marvel hits theaters and a lot of things can change in the story between now and then. All we know for sure is what Marvel has officially released. Anything else, like what we are reading here is just a rumor that may or may not happen, but it's still fun to talk about what we might see!

Captain Marvel will be released in theater on March 8th, 2019.
