Rumors on Which Comic The VENOM Movie may be Basing it's Story On

With as much info as we have on the Venom movie, there is still quite a bit we don't know, but there are now some rumors being spread that the film will be based on a popular comic story of Venom's past.

The story arc is called "Lethal Protector", and it is known for showing Venom in a better light than usual. It features Eddie Brock moving to San Francisco where he starts being a hero to the people. He ends up fighting a gang and eventually a group of new villainous symbiotes. There has been no solid evidence of this, but the Venom film is planning on filming in San Francisco which is a major point of "Lethal Protector".

Personally, I hope they don't go this route. I don't want Eddie to fight another symbiote. For one, having a hero fight a villain with the hero's same power is so overdone. Iron Man fights bad guy in Iron Suit, Hulk fights bad giant greenish thing, Ant-Man fights villain who shrinks. It's so much more interesting when there is a difference in the hero and villain. Not every villain and hero have to be the same.

Currently, in the comics, Eddie Brock is Venom again, and it's going quite well. He's fighting Kraven, and it's cool, because essentially Venom is a beast and Kraven is a hunter, and Venom has to adapt and learn to be able to fight him. It makes for some good stories. It's the same reason Venom fighting Carnage, while it may seem interesting, is kind of boring.

It's only a rumor for now, but, you never know, it could end up being true. Thoughts below? Do you think they should make a new storyline or base it on an original.
