Russell Crowe Faces off With Demons in Trailer For The Horror Thriller THE POPE'S EXORCIST
Sony Pictures has released a trailer for the upcoming horror film The Pope’s Exorcist, which stars Russell Crowe as The Chief Exorcist of The Vatican. The character is based on a real-life priest named Father Gabriele Amorth, who worked for the Vatican and performed several exorcisms during his lifetime. The film is inspired by the actual files of Father Gabriele Amorth, who wrote two memoirs, An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories, where he talked about his experiences battling Satan and demons.
This film follows Amorth as he investigates a young boy’s terrifying possession and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy the Vatican has desperately tried to keep hidden. While the film is inspired by real events, there’s a lot of stuff that was obviously made up for the movie. But, it looks like a good horror movie that is sure to deliver some good scares!
The movie was directed by Julius Avery (Son of a Gun, Overlord, and Samaritan) and the cast also includes Franco Nero as The Pope, Laurel Marsden, River Hawkins, Pablo Raybould, Daniel Zovatto, Alex Essoe, and Ralph Ineson as the voice of the "Demon".
The Pope's Exorcist hits theaters on April 14th, 2023.
