RWBY: BEFORE THE DAWN Is Set to Launch This Summer

Last summer, RWBY fans got to see what Team CFVY was up to in RWBY: After the Fall. It was a novel by E. C. Myers that followed CFVY as they continued training the kingdom of Vacuo after the Fall of Beacon at the end of Season 3. It was a fun read that helped us follow some fan-favorite side characters that don’t get attention in the series for obvious reasons. Well, the follow up book, RWBY: Before the Dawn, has been announced and it’s set to release this summer for fans to continue enjoying. This will not only follow CFVY, but also Team SSSN as they try to do their part and warn Theodore, the headmaster of Shade Academy in Vacuo.

A storm is coming...

After their strange mission in the desert, Coco, Fox, Velvet, and Yatsuhashi are back at Shade Academy, doing some "extracurricular" work to track down The Crown, a mysterious force that's snatching up people with powerful semblances. The job should be easier with Team SSSN by their side, but The Crown continues to evade them. Out of options and worried that a bigger plot is in motion, CFVY and SSSN notify Theodore, the Headmaster of Shade Academy, but Theodore has problems of his own.

Troubled by the disasters at Beacon and Haven Academies and struggling to support the flood of refugee students, Theodore declares a new initiation-including the formation of new teams to better unite the student body. Amid mounting tension at the school, CFVY and SSSN must contend with unfamiliar teammates and uneasy rivalries, all while The Crown plots their next move.

I really enjoyed Myers’s ability to juggle all four member of CFVY in After the Fall, I’m curious if he’s going to do something similar with both teams or if he’s going to approach it differently. I’m personally hoping for the latter as the eight people would probably be too much. Plus, we didn’t know CFVY very well before the first book, but we got to know Sun and Neptune of SSSN decently well in the series, so we don’t necessarily need as much interior monologue.

I’m very excited to read Before the Dawn which will release on July 21 with pre-orders available now on Amazon.
