Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe to Star in Shane Black's THE NICE GUYS
Iron Man 3 director Shane Black is currently developing a film noir project with producer Joel Silver called The Nice Guys. They are looking to cast Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe to star alongside each other in the movie. Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but if they can land the actors you can bet your ass they will.
The story is set in smoggy 1970s Los Angeles, and it "follows Jackson Healy (muscle-for-hire, recovering alcoholic) and Holland March (private eye, practicing alcoholic), who are brought together by the suicide of a fading porn star. However, the dead girl's aunt is convinced she saw her niece alive and well after the highly publicized incident. March needs money, takes the case, and within days, it's blossomed into a far-reaching murder conspiracy, bizarrely rooted in smog and the U.S. auto industry."
The script was written years ago by Black and Anthony Bagarozzi, but it didn't really go anywhere until now. It would be great if Crowe and Gosling signed on. They're both incredible actors, and they've both starred in noir movies. Crowe did L.A. Confidential \, and Gosling was in Gangster Squad.
I love film noir, so this is a project I'll definitely be keeping my eye on.
