Ryan Gosling Explains That Ken Is Pretty Much a Homeless Bum in the BARBIE Movie
Ryan Gosling has shed some light on his Ken character in director Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie, and well… Ken is pretty much a bum. The actor revealed that his version of Ken is "going through some stuff" and explained in an interview with Entertainment Tonight:
"That Ken life is even harder than the Gray Man life, I think. Ken’s got no money, he’s got no job, he’s got no car, he’s got no house. He’s going through some stuff."
Gosling went on to amusingly and vaguely tease the story saying: "It’s not what you think it is, unless it is. And then you know what it is, but I don’t think that’s what you think it is."
Got it? Ok. It’s going to be interesting to see what this Barbie movie ends up being. Margot Robbie takes on the role of Barbie, and they are also joined by Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Ariana Greenblatt (Love and Monsters), Alexandra Shipp (tick, tick…BOOM!), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), Issa Rae (Insecure), Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Hari Nef (Transparent), and Will Ferrell (Saturday Night Live).
You can check out some photos from the set of the film here and in them, Gosling is looking pretty Neon for a homeless guy.
Liu described the Barbie movie as being “wild” and “incredibly unique,” and said, “I wish I could just show you what we do day-to-day because it’s crazy… When you’re doing a scene and it’s working, you hear, ‘HAHAHAHA!’ It’s the best feeling in the world. If you’re an asshole on a Greta Gerwig set, there’s no hope for you.”
Barbie will open in theaters July 21st, 2023
