Ryan Gosling Set To Play Ken in Margot Robbie's BARBIE Movie
Ryan Gosling has been cast as Ken in Margot Robbie’s upcoming Barbie movie. This new bit of casting seems to make perfect sense. Of course, Ryan Gosling would play Ken!
Greta Gerwig (Little Women) is directing the film, which is based on the classic Mattel doll line and Robbie will be taking on the role of Barbie. She is is co-writing the script alongside her partner, Oscar-nominated writer and director Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale, Marriage Story).
While there are no story details to share, Robbie previously talked about the film sayin, “We like the things that feel a little left of center. Something like Barbie where the IP, the name itself, people immediately have an idea of, ‘Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is,’ but our goal is to be like, ‘Whatever you're thinking, we're going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn't know you wanted.”
There’s a lot of super talented people involved with this project, and while Barbie isn’t really my thing, I can’t help but be interested in seeing what this movie ends up being and what kind of story it will tell.
