Ryan Reynolds' CLUE Remake Could Be Rated R
As you may have heard, Ryan Reynolds has teamed back up with Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to develop a remake of the classic 1985 murder mystery comedy Clue, which was based on the classic board game.
I am a huge fan of the original movie. It's one of those films that I have watched countless times over the years, especially when I was growing up. But, I'm a big fan of what Reynolds, Reese, and Wernick have done with the Deadpool franchise, so I'm actually looking forward to seeing how they end up developing this remake.
During a recent interview with MTV, the writers talked a little bit about the movie and what they are going for, saying:
"It will have elements of [the original movie], but it’s important that we don’t try and just rehash it. We want to build on it. We want to take some of what makes it fun and funny, but then we want to do our own thing. It’s about finding that balance. Hopefully we don’t upset the Clue-hounds because there are a lot of them apparently. We didn’t realize this until we signed up."
Wernick goes on to tease that the film could end up being rated R:
"Don't be surprised if Clue is an R-rated... Potentially."
An R-rated feature film adaptation of the classic board game Clue? That could be a lot of fun! Especially with their style of humor. If they can bring the level of comedy to Clue that they've brought to the Deadpool films, this Clue remake could actually be pretty great.
What do you think about Reynolds, Reese, and Wernick developing a Clue remake? Are you curious or excited to see what they come up with for it?
