Ryan Reynolds Has Hilarious Response to Marvel's Lack of X-MEN and DEADPOOL Movie Plans Prior to the Pandemic
We still have no idea what Marvel Studios is planning for the X-Men or Deadpool now that they have the rights to all of these characters. I’m sure that have ideas in place for what they want to do with some of these mutant characters, but those plans and ideas have yet to be shared.
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, a studio source told them, “There weren't any current plans for any of the X-Men movies before the pandemic hit. A studio summit held early in 2020 — a preview of sorts with a presentation by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige — didn't even have Deadpool 3 on the official docket."
Well, EW reached out to Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds with this information, and he had a hilarious response. He said:
"I agree with Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola that Marvel films suffer from an alarming lack of Deadpool."
I couldn’t agree more! But, Feige did say that it would be at least five years before we would see X-Men introduced in the MCU, so I’m not surprised by any of this. On top of that, with the Pandemic, I’m pretty sure the introduction of the X-Men has been delayed even further.
It’d be a shame if they wait so long that Reynolds won’t be interested in reprising the role when they finally get around to wanting to do it. Anyway, ya gotta love Reynolds’ sense of humor.
