Ryan Reynolds Hilarious Talks About Becoming Pikachu in Fun DETECTIVE PIKACHU Promo Video

Ryan Reynolds has shared a wonderfully funny promo video for Detective Pikachu in which he talks about becoming Pikachu in the film. It’s called “Outside the Actors Studio,” and he makes sure that we know that he went to great levels to play this legendary role to the point that he pretty much gave up his family.

Reynolds’s wife Blake Lively also appears in the video, and she is not happy with how her husband buried himself in the role. It’s all amusingly playful.

Detective Pikachu follows a young man who joins forces with Detective Pikachu to “unravel the mystery behind his father’s disappearance. Chasing clues through the streets of Ryme City, the dynamic duo soon discover a devious plot that poses a threat to the Pokémon universe.”

Detective Pikachu is directed by Rob Letterman and also stars Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Ken Watanabe (Inception), Suki Waterhouse (Revenge), Rita Ora (Fifty Shades Freed), and Bill Nighy (Gideon’s Daughter).

Detective Pikachu is directed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman from a script that was written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls). Detective Pikachu will be the first film in a planned franchise centering on the character.

Detective Pikachu hits theaters on May 10th, 2019.
