Ryan Reynolds in Talks To Join The Feature Film Adaptation of Tom Clancy's RAINBOW SIX

Paramount Pictures and Ubisoft are in the process of developing a feature film adaptation of Tom Clancy's best-selling novel Rainbow Six. According to Deadline, they hired Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman (The Dark Tower, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) to produce the film which is being adapted into a screenplay by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol).

The novel was published in 1999 is it focuses on a character named John Clark. This character has previously been portrayed by Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger and Liev Schreiber in The Sum of All Fears. He's a great character that is part of the Jack Ryan universe and now it looks like there's a chance we might see Ryan Reynolds in the role! Apparently, he's had discussions with the studio about it.

The story revolves around Ex-Navy SEAL Clark, "who has been named the head of Rainbow, an international task force dedicated to combating terrorism. In a trial by fire, Clark is confronted with a violent chain of seemingly separate international incidents. But there is no way to predict the real threat: a group of terrorists like none the world has ever encountered, a band of men and women so extreme that their success could literally mean the end of life on earth as we know it."

This seems like it would be a great role for Reynolds to take on and I hope he does it. Of course, I always did enjoy Dafoe's portrayal of him He was such a badass! This could end up being another franchise for Reynolds to be a part of.

It seems like the project is still very early in development, but what do you think about Reynolds possibly joining the project.
