Ryan Reynolds' R.I.P.D. Is Getting a Sequel Titled R.I.P.D. 2: RISE OF THE DAMNED

The 2013 supernatural action comedy R.I.P.D., which starred Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, may have been a terrible film and a box office bomb, but it’s getting a sequel. The movie is titled R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned, and it will be a Universal Pictures Home Entertainment release.

There are no details on the story, but I think it’s a safe bet to say that Reynolds and Bridges will not be coming back to reprise their roles. They’ve both got better things to do.

The film hasn’t formally been announced, but it’s listed on this week’s ratings bulletin from the MPAA, and the film received a PG-13 rating for “sequences of violence, language, disturbing images, and some crude/sexual references.”

R.I.P.D. is based on a comic book, and the first film followed two cops dispatched by the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.) to protect and serve the living from increasingly destructive spirits hiding among the unsuspecting on Earth. “When they uncover a plot that could end life as we know it, the new partners have to turn grudging respect into top-notch teamwork to restore the cosmic balance…or watch the tunnel to the afterlife begin sending angry souls the very wrong way.”

I’m not expecting much for the sequel, and even though it’s a Home Entertainment release, I’m still surprised that another movie was made.
