Ryan Reynolds Said Fox Made Him Cut Out a Disney Joke From DEADPOOL 2

Disney hasn't even officially purchased 20th Century Fox yet, but it seems like the fact that it's in the process is already affecting Deadpool 2. During a recent interview with EW, Ryan Reynolds said that Fox made him remove a joke about Disney from Deadpool 2.

This is a sore spot for me because there's a joke in the movie that is not in the movie now because --- I'm probably not even allowed to say this --- Fox made me take it out. It had more to do with Disney, and they made me take it out. As I look back at it, I think maybe that was a wise decision.

So I guess Disney is off limits to make fun of in the Deadpool movies now. That's interesting. You'd think that Disney might have a sense of humor about it. Fox must be playing it safe, hoping that this deal with Disney goes through.

That didn't stop them from showing a little promotional Deadpool video at CinemaCon that screened during the Fox presentation. It cracked jokes about Disney buying Fox and you could see the Mickey Mouse ears in the background of the video. It also features a guy dressed up as Pluto the Dog get up from off the floor after what looked to be one hell of a wild night of madness with Deadpool and Hugh Jackman.

It's just interesting that the prospect of Disney buying Fox has already started to affect things. Maybe one day we'll find out what that Disney joke in Deadpool 2 was. Regardless, the actor did say that there will be a recurring joke in the film about the Disney animated film, Frozen.

When asked if he thinks Disney plans to make any changes to the Deadpool franchise, Reynolds said:

"I really genuinely don’t know a thing about it. I read that [chairman and CEO] Bob Iger felt that there’s plenty of room in that universe to have a rated-R character like Deadpool. This is completely conjecture on my part, but I wouldn’t imagine that Disney bought Fox to dismantle it or something like that. I think that Disney bought Fox so it could have that in its arsenal."

I guess we'll eventually see what Disney ends up doing with all these Marvel properties that Fox owns after the purchase is officially complete.

What do you all think about Fox making Reynolds and the creative team remove a Disney joke from Deadpool 2?
