Ryan Reynolds Talks about Facing His GREEN LANTERN Failure Daily as It's His Son's Favorite Movie
Ryan Reynolds has proven that he can make a smash hit superhero franchise with his Deadpool films. Whether it’s because the hero fits him better, or the writing and directing just makes more sense, it’s a huge leap from his first attempt, the 2011 DC film Green Lantern.
The actor is asked about the film regularly, and he has a good attitude about the flop, easily poking fun at himself, but he is becoming more acquainted with the movie than he ever imagined he’d have to be.
At a recent Q&A event for the Wall Street Journal’s Leadership Institute, Reynolds was asked if he could comment on a noteworthy failure in his career, and he shared this great slice of life anecdote:
“Creatively speaking, it’s hard to say. Someone might say Green Lantern. You laugh, but my son, it's his favorite movie, and he watches it every fucking day. Do you understand the work I've had to do to get to the place where I can just pass by that screen and not go, 'Well, we could have [done that better]’?”
It’s a pretty odd predicament. We all have failures in our past, but they aren’t usually playing on repeat on our home TVs. What a weird life. But it couldn’t have happened to a funnier guy who is happy to take it in stride and make a great funny story out of it.
