Ryan Reynolds Talks About the DEADPOOL Christmas Movie That Was Scrapped Amid the Disney/Fox Merger
We are finally on track to get a third Deadpool movie, and this time, star Ryan Reynolds is teaming up with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine! I know it’s going to be worth it, but it will end up being a six-year stretch between Deadpool 2 and 3. As it turns out, a third Deadpool movie was actually written and on track to be made, but then the Disney/Fox merger happened, and it was one of many projects tobe scrapped.
Reynolds explained to Big Issue:
“I would love to see a song and dance number in a Deadpool movie. Four years ago [Deadpool co-writers] Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and I wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool. But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox and it never got made. Maybe one day we’ll get to make that movie. It’s not a musical, but it’s a full Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day.”
I’m sure that the next movie will revive the popularity of the franchise, and the studio will be more than happy to sign on to another Deadpool movie! I bet we will see that Christmas movie get made one day, and I look forward to watching it!
