Sacha Baron Cohen Brings Back Ali G and Borat in Wild New Trailer for ALI G: WHO IZ I?
Sacha Baron Cohen is bringing Ali G back to the big screen, and the latest trailer for Ali G: Who Iz I? is every bit as ridiculous as you'd expect. The new footage also features the return of Borat, who has a few things to say about the movie and its questionable sense of humor.
Amazon MGM Studios has released the second trailer for the upcoming comedy sequel, which sees Cohen revisiting the character that helped launch his career. Rather than giving audiences a traditional look at the story, the trailer has some fun with the controversy surrounding the film.
Borat makes an appearance to criticize the movie for being "racist," prompting Ali G to fire back with his own colorful response: "Yo, dis prick Borat wiv an even bigger tache dan me Nan iz talkin smack bout me movie."
Cohen also introduces two new characters, including an Israeli soldier and a self-described "libtard" who wants to get the movie cancelled. It's a bizarre promotional approach that focuses more on people reacting to the film than anything that actually happens in it. That's pretty much the kind of comedy Cohen has built his career on.
Ali G first appeared in 1998 as a wannabe streetwise British personality with an inflated sense of his own importance. The character eventually became the centerpiece of Da Ali G Show in the early 2000s, helping turn Cohen into a comedy star before he found even greater success with Borat.
Now, more than two decades later, Ali G is returning for another adventure, and his life hasn't exactly gone according to plan.
The sequel picks up after Ali G has spent the past 20 years "chillin', tokin' and bonin'." His comfortable existence comes crashing down when he discovers that his longtime girlfriend, Julie, played by Morgana Robinson, is eight months pregnant.
With a baby on the way and another mouth to feed, Ali G decides it's time to get off his backside and head to America, hoping to reclaim the fame he once enjoyed. Unfortunately, his efforts put him in the path of some dangerous enemies who threaten both his life and the future of his unborn child.
Cohen is taking full creative control of the sequel, writing, directing, producing, and starring in the film. While he previously directed a handful of episodes of his Showtime series Who Is America?, this marks his first time directing one of his feature-length comedies.
This latest preview makes it clear that Cohen is still having fun pushing buttons and making audiences uncomfortable. Whether Ali G's brand of comedy can still deliver the laughs more than 20 years later remains to be seen.
Ali G: Who Iz I? hits theaters nationwide on October 23, 2026.
