Salma Hayek and Elodie Yung Join Ryan Reynolds in HITMAN'S BODYGUARD
Apparently Ryan Reynolds' first post-Deadpool movie isn't going to be a reunion with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick for the sci-fi thriller Life. While he may still end up doing that project, Deadline reports that his next movie will be something called Hitman's Bodyguard, which I've never heard of before. Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow is directing, and Salma Hayek and Daredevil star Elodie Yung have just been added to the cast — though we don't know anything about who they'll be playing. Oh, and did I mention that both Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman are also in this movie?
Here's Deadline's breakdown of the plot:
Reynolds plays the world’s top protection agent who gets a new client: a hit man who came in from the cold (Jackson). They’ve been on the opposite ends of a bullet for years and hate each other. They become stuck together and have 24 hours to get to the Hague. They have to get past a murderous Eastern European dictator (Oldman), and all the bad guys he can throw at them.
I'm not a fan of Wadlow's work (along with Kick-Ass 2, he also directed Cry_Wolf and Never Back Down), so despite the solid cast, I don't have a lot of faith in this one. At the very least, though, I hope Hayek and Yung both play assassins who try to take down Reynolds and Jackson instead of being stuck on the sidelines in boring wife/girlfriend roles. Filming starts on April 2nd.
