It was pretty damn exciting when Alfred Molina popped up as Doc Ock at the end of the trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home. I honestly never thought that we’d ever see Molina back in the role of this classic villain, but here he is! It’s amazing, and now I can’t wait to see how exactly the character’s story arc is going to play out in the film!

Director Sam Raimi is the filmmaker who originally introduced us to this version of the character in Spider-Man 2. He’s now directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is pretty badass. Well, Raimi recently addressed the return of his Doc Ock in the new Spider-Man film during an interview with SyFy Wire. When asked to share his thoughts he said:

“That was beautiful. He looks great, the animation’s great. I’m assuming it’s not puppeted because when we did Doc Ock, we had puppets and animation for his octopus tentacles. But it was smooth and powerful and I loved his costume they kept. I think it’s gonna be a great movie.”

It’s gotta be pretty cool for him to see the return of the version of the character. I bet he never thought he’d see that happen either! This is one of a few other villainous characters that will be popping up in the film, and it’s going to be interesting to see how they end up being utilized.

The film sees the return of Tom Holland as Peter Parker, and he will be joined by Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. They end up teaming up as they deal with a big issue when they find themselves in a crazy multiverse situation.

The movie is being directed by Jon Watts, and the cast also includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Tony Revolori as Flash, and Hannibal Buress as Coach Wilson.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
