Sam Raimi Confirms He's Directing DOCTOR STRANGE Sequel and Discusses the Character's Reference in SPIDER-MAN

After we learned that Sam Raimi was looking to direct Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness for Marvel, fans started pointing out that the filmmaker actually referenced Doctor Strange in his first Spider-Man movie. You can check out that scene below:

In a recent interview with ComingSoon, the director talks about this little mention of Doctor Strange for the first time and explains why he included it. He also pretty much confirms he’s directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:

“I loved Doctor Strange as a kid, but he was always after Spider-Man and Batman for me, he was probably at number five for me of great comic book characters. He was so original, but when we had that moment in Spider-Man 2 I had no idea that we would ever be making a Doctor Strange movie, so it was really funny to me that coincidentally that line was in the movie. I gotta say I wish we had the foresight to know that I was going to be involved in the project.”

It’s such a cool coincidence seeing how things all worked out in regards to the next Doctor Strange movie. This next film is going to be epic as it will truly break open the multiverse in the MCU. It will also tie into the events of both Disney+ shows WandaVision and Loki.

I’m excited to see how this movie turns out, especially with Raimi at the helm. I can’t help but think he’s going to do some awesome things with the movie!
