Sam Raimi is Developing a TV Series Called 50 STATES OF FEAR For a New Streaming Service
Evil Dead creator and Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is set to develop a new original TV series called 50 States of Fear. The show will be coming to yet another new streaming service being launched called NewTV.
NewTV was created by Jeffrey Katzenberg (DreamWorks Animation) and Meg Whitman will serve as CEO. It’s said to be a new short form venture. Raimi’s project is the first big thing to come to the streaming service.
As great as that is, and as excited as I am to see a new series from Sam Raimi, I’m not going to sign up for another streaming service to watch it. With all of the streaming service that already exist and are on the way, it’s a big gamble to try and jump into the game right now. There’s a good chance that NewTV venture won’t even last. But there’s a billion dollars behind it, so we’ll see.
That being said, I wish that Raimi was developing this 50 States of Fear with Netflix or Hulu! There aren’t any details on the plot of the series, but I’m intrigued by the title and I’m looking forward to learning more about it.
The service will offer a two-tiered subscription model similar to what Hulu does. The lower-priced version, at $5 per month, will have select advertising, and an ad free version will cost $8 per month.
NewTV is looking to launch by the end of 2019.
