Sam Raimi Addresses the Chances of Him Directing Another Spider-Man Movie with Tobey Maguire
Spider-Man: No Way Home got Marvel fans pretty excited about the possibility of seeing the stories continue of the previous Spider-Man characters that came before Tom Holland’s MCU version. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both offered fun and different versions of the hero, and there were more stories to tell with them when their franchises came to an end.
With the two characters being reintroduced in No Way Home, it’s certainly possible that maybe one day Marvel and Sony might want to continue those stories. But, as of right now, there’s no word on what any pans are, or if there are even any plans!
In a recent interview with Fandango, director Sam Raimi was asked what the chances are that we would see him come back to direct another Spider-Man film with Tobey Maguire. This was his reply:
“I've come to realize after making Doctor Strange that anything is possible, really anything in the Marvel universe, any team-ups. I love Tobey. I love Kirsten Dunst. I think all things are possible. I don't really have a story or a plan. I don't know if Marvel would be interested in that right now. I don't know what their thoughts are about that. I haven't really pursued that. But it sounds beautiful. Even if it wasn't a Spider-Man movie, I'd love to work with Tobey again, in a different role.”
So basically, if Marvel and Sony actually approached him about making another Spider-Man movie, he’d totally be up for it, which is great news! We just don’t know if the studios will ever make that move. It’d be a shame if they didn’t.
He also went on to say that if Marvel asked him to come back in play in the MCU a little more after working with them on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, he would definitely do it!
“Absolutely. It's like the world's best toy box to be able to play at Marvel. I'd love to come back and tell another tale, especially with the great management they've got there.”
Raimi obviously has a great experience working with Marvel, and I do hope that he will stick around to make more movies with them in the future. This is the kind of talented guy they need to stick around for a little while. He could do some great things with the franchise!
