Sam Raimi Reveals Scarlet Witch Kills Mordo in Alternate Scene in DOCTOR STRANGE 2

In the audio commentary for the digital release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, director Sam Raimi shares lots of interesting information about the movie. One of the more intriguing things that he shared was an alternate opening for the film, which would have featured Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) facing off with Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). It didn’t end well for Mordo.

Raimi explains that Scarlet Witch "killed [Mordo] and cut his head off” and “presented it to Strange in a later scene." Damn… that’s dark and pretty messed up. The movie was already pretty dark, but It’s not hard to understand why this scene didn’t ultimately make it in the final cut of the film.

But, at the same time, Scarlet Witch brutally slaughters the members of the Illuminati. I guess the beheading of Mordo and presenting it to Doctor Strange crossed the line.
