Sam Raimi Shares His Thoughts on Marvel's Upcoming SPIDER-MAN

Sam Raimi played a big role ushering in the age of superhero movies with his Spider-Man films. Since then, comic book films have evolved into the awesomeness that we are seeing today. Spider-Man is about to go through another reboot, but this time Marvel has a hand in how it will be developed, which is incredibly exciting for fans.

While at Comic-Con, MTV had the opportunity to talk to Raimi about the upcoming Spider-Man films. When asked what aspect of the Spider-Man universe he would like to see explored more, the filmmaker said:

"I’d like to go into his high school life and his relationships with Gwen Stacy. I love Flash Thompson. The drama and the difficulty of going through high school is so unique to a superhero. That’s what Spider-Man’s all about, so that they’re going to explore that is very exciting."

That sounds exactly like what we are going to get in this latest version of the character that is currently being developed by director Jon Watts and writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein.

Raimi also shares his thoughts on the two films directed by Marc Webb, as well as what Marvel and Sony are looking to do with the character saying:

"I think that's gonna be refreshing, and just like my favorite of the Spider-Man comic books, and I have a lot of faith that they really know their stuff."

Sounds like he's just as excited as the rest of us to see the movie! You can watch the entire interview below. The latest incarnation of Spider-Man will be played by Tom Holland, and he will make his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War. That will lead to his own solo adventure set to be released on July 28, 2017.
