Sam Raimi Thinks There's Still Room for EVIL DEAD IV and "All Sorts of EVIL DEAD Movies"

As we excitedly await the release of Evil Dead Rise, Sam Raimi is talking about the franchise and how there’s room for all kinds of Evil Dead film projects, and he hopes to direct again as a way to support his longtime fans and partners Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert.

As you know, Bruce Campbell has been pretty adamant about his decision not to return to play Ash Williams in the Evil Dead franchise outside of voicing the character in video games and a possible animated series. After Ash Vs Evil Dead, he was done.

Before that series happened, though, there was a lot of discussion about making an Evil Dead IV, which was supposed to combine Ash’s story with Mia’s from the 2013 reboot. Raimi believes that film still is possible along with all sorts of other Evil Dead movies! During a recent interview with Empire, Raimi explained:

“That character, Mia, was great, so I was very interested. We had been talking about an ‘Evil Dead IV’ for the other branch of that universe, and we were worried a little bit about a collision. Ash Vs Evil Dead is what that morphed into. But I always thought there was room for both. I still think there’s room for all sorts of Evil Dead movies. I don’t think they cancel each other out.”

Raimi then went on to talk about directing something that reunites him with Campbell and Tapert, who have been involved with the Evil Dead franchise from the very beginning:

“I love working with Bruce and Rob. I love it as a producer because they’re really good partners, but I also like being supported by them as the director. So I hope that is on the cards eventually.”

I hope that it’s in the cards eventually as well! Wouldn’t it be amazing if we actually got another Evil Dead movie with Raimi directing Campbell!? I think there’s a cool way to do that which wouldn’t involve Campbell having to be so physically active. If Evil Dead Rise is a box office success, there’s a good chance the franchise will continue to live on in the way that Raimi is hoping.
