Sam Raimi Weighs in on a Possible DRAG ME TO HELL Sequel
Earlier this week, Justin Long shared a concept he had for a sequel for director Sam Raimi’s crazy fun horror film Drag Me To Hell. This is a film that I would love to see a sequel for! I have no idea if it will ever happen, but Raimi was recently asked about the possibility during a recent interview with Bloody Disgusting. This is what he said:
“Oh, well, if somebody had a good story. I don’t have a story, because in my mind the character got killed, and worse. So I didn’t know how to proceed with the sequel."
Well, if he definitively killed off the main character in the movie, I can understand why we haven’t seen a sequel. See, I never really thought that the character died, so I have been thinking about a sequel!
At the end of the film, Allison Lohman’s character Christine was was dragged down to hell as her boyfriend watched in horror. I always thought it would have been awesome if once she got down there she ran into Ash who also could have been dragged to hell and they teamed up to escape. That’s the film I’d want to see, but Long had a good one as well that would focus on his character.
When talking about his creative process and why he’s explored some of his other stories like Evil Dead, he explained:
“Usually, for me, I’m left with a character like Bruce Campbell, that I really am interested [in] or like, or a concept that really feels like it needs to continue. But this is such a definitive ending that in my mind I didn’t know where to start with a sequel.”
Maybe he should start collaborating with Long or Lohman so that he can get inspired to make this sequel because I’d watch the shit out of it!
What are some of your ideas for a sequel!? What would you pitch to Raimi?
