Sam Raimi Would Not Direct Tom Holland's SPIDER-MAN 4 Because Tobey Maguire Would "Break My Neck"
After Sam Raimi made an awesome Marvel film with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans would love to see him get the opportunity to play with Spider-Man again. However, if he does, he won’t be helming a Tom Holland Spider-Man film.
During an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Raimi was asked about the possibility of directing Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film, and this was his response:
"I love Spider-Man. And I love Tom Holland in the role. [But] if I made a Spider-Man movie, it would probably have to be with Tobey or he'd break my neck."
Tobey Maguire reprises his role of Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home and it was so cool to see him back in action! I’d love to see another Spider-Man movie with Maguire, and it makes sense that Raimi would want to direct that film over a Tom Holland Spider-Man film, if it happened.
With the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the excitement of seeing Maguire back as Spider-Man, and Raimi’s success with the Doctor Strange sequel, maybe Sony will actually consider doing something with a Raimi and Maguire Spider-Man movie. It seems like it would be a huge success. There’s really no reason why they shouldn’t at least attempt to do it!
Raimi previously said he "currently [doesn't] have any plans" to reunite with Maguire on Spider-Man 4, and says that "[Sony's] so successful with the new Spider-Man series that I don't know if that's gonna happen or not. I haven't pursued that."
Would you want to see Raimi and Maguire team up again for Spider-Man 4?
