Sam Raimi's EVIL DEAD Series ASH VS. EVIL DEAD Picked up by Starz

This past summer, Sam Raimi announced that he was developing an Evil Dead TV series. A press release reveals that Starz has officially picked up that series, and that the title will be Ash Vs. Evil Dead. How awesome is that?! They even offered up some details!

The cable network has given Ash Vs. Evil Dead a 10-episode straight-to-series order, and it will premiere 2015. The series followup to the classic horror film franchise reunites Raimi, his producing partner Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell. Of course, what would The Evil Dead be without Campbell? You will be happy to know that not only is Campbell producing, but he will be reprising his role as Ash! Here's a description:

Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead.  When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal.  Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

Raimi is set to direct the first episode of the show, which he co-wrote with his brother Ivan Raimi (Darkman) and Tom Spezialy (Chuck). Raimi had this to say in a Statement:

Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”

Campbell added:

“I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide – it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor.”

This is the best news I've heard all day, and I couldn't be more pumped up that this is happening! I'm not sure what this means for any future films, but as long as we get a horrifically badass series with our favorite character Ash, I'm 100% on board! Now I just have to add Starz to my cable network plan.
