Sam Rockwell Battles Rogue A.I. in Gore Verbinski’s Bonkers Sci-Fi Film GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON'T DIE

Briarcliff Entertainment has released an electrifying first teaser for Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, a new sci-fi film from director Gore Verbinski, and it looks absolutely insane.

The movie marks Verbinski’s first feature since A Cure for Wellness back in 2016, and judging by this teaser, he’s back with a vengeance.

The film stars Sam Rockwell as a mysterious man claiming to be from the future who bursts into a Los Angeles diner and takes its patrons hostage. But he’s not there for money, he’s there to save the world. He believes this unlikely group of strangers is the key to stopping a rogue artificial intelligence from wiping out humanity.

The concept seems like it’s perfect for Verbinski as it’s surreal, darkly funny, and loaded with biting social commentary about technology and our overreliance on it.

Joining Rockwell are Michael Peña, Juno Temple, Haley Lu Richardson, Zazie Beetz, Asim Chandhry, and Tom Taylor, making for one hell of a cast.

Early festival reactions from Fantastic Fest and Beyond Fest have already hyped the movie up as something special, calling it “as entertaining as it is profound.” Another reviewer teased, "You'll constantly feel shocked at the subject matter that is evoking guttural laughter. It's as entertaining as it is profound."

The film’s official synopsis reads: “A man from the future appears at a Los Angeles diner with an urgent mission: to recruit the exact mix of disgruntled patrons needed for a one-night, six-block quest to stop a rogue artificial intelligence from destroying the world.”

Verbinski has built a career out of crafting immersive, imaginative worlds, from The Ring to Pirates of the Caribbean, Rango, and The Lone Ranger. With this new project, it looks like he’s diving headfirst into a fun genre he’s never fully explored before: futuristic sci-fi comedy with an edge of existential dread.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die looks like a chaotic, clever, and wildly entertaining ride.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die was written by Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Monster Trucks). It lands in theaters February 13, 2026.
