Samara Weaving Set to Star in the Comedy Thriller BORDERLINE
Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) is set to star in the comedy thriller Borderline. She is joined by Eric Dane (Something from Tiffany) and Ray Nicholson, and it will be written and directed by Jimmy Warden, who will make his feature film directorial debut. He previously wrote The Babysitter: Killer Queen, which Samara starred in.
The movie appeared on the Black List of best unproduced scripts, and the story centers around “a helplessly romantic sociopath who escapes from a mental institution and invades the home of a ’90s pop superstar. He just wants to be loved; she just wants to survive.”
That certainly sounds like it’s going to be a wild story, and I can definitely see the comedy in it. This is going to be a great project for Weaving to take on! She tends to make enjoyable flicks, and I like the attitude that she brings to the characters she plays.
The movie also stars Alba Baptista (Mrs Harris Goes to Paris) and Jimmie Fails (The Last Black Man in San Francisco).
William G. Santor, Producer and CEO at PMI said in a statement: “Productivity Media is excited to co-produce with LuckyChap on this distinctive and startling comedic thriller. Supporting rising creators like Jimmy is a large part of PMI’s mission, and we look forward to bringing ‘Borderline’ to audiences very soon.”
Producer Mimi Steinbauer added: “From ‘I, Tonya’ to ‘Promising Young Woman,’ our friends at LuckyChap have produced some of the most critically lauded and commercially successful female-led films of the last five years, so we’re honored they’ve chosen us to represent this special new project. Samara, Dane and Ray are the perfect cast to lead Jimmy’s whip-smart, edge-of-your-seat comedic-thriller through all its twists and turns.”
