Samuel L. Jackson Reveals When Nick Fury Will Next Be Seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Samuel L. Jackson’s Marvel character Nick Fury first appeared in the post-credits scene of the movie that started it all- Iron Man (2008).
He regularly showed up in each of the projects subsequently through the rest of the Infinity Saga, which concluded with Spider-Man: Far From Home, just after Avengers: Endgame.
It was then that Nick Fury, and the MCU as a whole, took a break from the release style we’d been used to, due to both Covid, as well as a recalibration at the studio.
Fury then re-entered the story with the series Secret Invasion, which told some of his backstory, and The Marvels, in which his character was running SABER while continuing his alliance with Brie Larson's Captain Marvel and forging new ones with Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan.
So when will we see him next? That had been a mystery, until now. Jackson sat down with The Direct to confirm his return, and he revealed, "Next movie... [The] movie after this one."
When asked if there is anything he can tease about Avengers: Secret Wars, Jackson noted that he has "no idea" what the story will be, saying, "I have no idea. [Marvel] hasn't told me anything, other than, 'You're not gonna be in this movie. You'll be in the next.'"
Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel has not been confirmed to return for Avengers: Doomsday either, so maybe they will be in tow together in Secret Wars. I look forward to Nick Fury’s return.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theatres on December 18, 2026; Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on December 17, 2027.
