Samuel L. Jackson Says Nick Fury Will Not Appear in AVENGERS 3 or 4

Samuel L. Jackson has done it all. He has been in almost every major franchise that exists. Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Avengers are all just a few of the major properties that he has been involved with in his career. And that's just the movie properties with tie-in LEGO sets! As you know, he was a key element in bringing the Avengers together and building the MCU, however it sounds like he won't be there for their greatest battle.

Recently in an interview with Yahoo Movies UK, Jackson confirmed that he would not be in Avengers: Infinity War or the untitled Avengers 4. This is strange. He made the Avengers the Avengers in the first place. But if you have keen eyes, you'll notice he's been laying low for awhile now. He hasn't appeared in Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Civil War, and it's doubtful he'll appear in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok either. In fact, according to Jackson, the next movie to include Nick Fury will be Captain Marvel and he hasn't even officially signed on for that movie yet!

This is upsetting to many who love Jackson's portrayal of Fury, especially Jackson himself, who is upset that he won't be involved in the upcoming Black Panther movie. He said this about the predicament.

“I wasn’t in the ‘superhero argument’ movie [Captain America: Civil War], I’m not in Avengers 3 and 4. They’re shooting them now, and they haven’t called me yet. They wouldn’t let me go to Black Panther-ville, so it’s kinda like how you gonna make a black Marvel movie and not let Nick Fury show up in it?!”

I truly hope that someone in the MCU eventually calls Wakanda Black Panther-ville. That would make my day. Even if it was Nick Fury himself in some future Marvel film.

This is curious, to see that his only upcoming Marvel movie is one set in the past. Captain Marvel takes place back in the 90's. This has me thinking that either he might have died, is on a secret mission that will be revealed in the future, or perhaps something more sinister. With the inclusion of the Skrulls in the MCU, Nick Fury could be being set up as one of the first of many doppelgängers who is to fight the Avengers in the future. Maybe they beat the Skrulls back in Captain Marvel, but after credits, it's revealed that Nick Fury is captured in the future, and while the Avengers are dealing with Thanos, a new threat is being built at home. Just theories for now, but it's obvious they have something planned for Nick Fury if they are actively keeping him out of the movies taking place in current time. We'll just have to wait to see what happens.
