Samurai Frog Warrior Art - The Lilypad Seven
Artist Conor Nolan has created a sensational series of amusing character art that he calls The Lilypad Seven. It features a group of samurai frog warriors who protect feudal Japan. When talking to io9, the artist explained his inspiration behind the art:
“It’s difficult to know where some ideas come from but if I had to guess for the seven it would be both my fondness of Studio Ghibli/ Hayao Miyazaki, and the movie ‘Seven Samurai’ by Akira Kurosawa. I also just really like frogs and thought putting them into armor, robes, and acorn hats would be a fun thing to draw.”
Apparently Nolan is also writing a comic book series based on these designs that he came up with. I don’t know about you, but I’d read it! If you want to purchase any of these as prints, click here.
