San Diego Comic-Con is Currently Still a Go For July
The geek world has watched as one convention after another has been cancelled or postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. One event that still hasn’t made a move is San Diego Comic-Con and that’s because there are still just under four months before it launches in July and as of right now, they plan on moving forward.
Comic-Con International released the following statement:
“To our amazing Comic-Con and WonderCon fans: We understand how difficult the current climate has been for all of us and appreciate your continued support through these trying times. No one is as hopeful as we are that we will be able to celebrate #SDCC2020 together come July.”
The convention organizers went on to say that they are “monitoring the situation with local authorities,” and then they quoted Superman actor Christopher Reeve:
“Until then, remember: ‘A hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.”
A lot can change in four months. Obviously, if things get worse or remain unchanged, they will be forced to postpone it. But, there’s also a chance that the spread of the virus will subside and things will start to go back to normal.
Comic-Con International previously made the decision to postpone WonderCon, which was due to run from April 10–12, over the coronavirus.
As for San Diego Comic-Con, it remains scheduled to take place from July 23rd to 26th.
