San Diego Comic-Con has announced that the in-person special event that they are planning will take place this year over Thanksgiving weekend. It will be a three-day “Comic-Con Special Edition” event that will run Friday, November 26th through Sunday, November 28th.

I have no idea why in the world they would schedule this during Thanksgiving, which is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. That makes no sense. I was excited that they were planning an in-person event, and I was excited about attending, but I seriously doubt that I’ll be able to attend during Thanksgiving weekend, which sucks. Makes me wonder what the turnout will be for fans and retail exhibitors.

The event is scheduled to be held at the San Diego Convention Center, which is the traditional site of the full-size Comic-Con International: San Diego.

As of right now, there are no details on badge cost, attendance capacity, or any other "related information." We really have no idea what to expect from this, but it’s safe to say it will be a much smaller event than what we’ve seen in years.

Comic-Con spokesperson David Glanzer said in a release distributed by the outfit said in a statement, "While we have been able to pivot from in-person gatherings to limited online events, the loss of revenue has had an acute impact on the organization as it has with many small businesses, necessitating reduced work schedules and reduction in pay for employees, among other issues. Hopefully, this event will shore up our financial reserves and mark a slow return to larger in-person gatherings in 2022."

What do you all think about the in-person Comic-Con event taking place during Thanksgiving weekend? Will it be a success for them?
