Sara Gilbert Joins the Cast of Netflix Series ATYPICAL in Its Third Season

Atypical is one of my absolute favorite shows right now. The series stars Keir Gilchrist as Sam, a young adult on the autism spectrum who is learning how to handle life as a kid transitioning to adulthood. It focuses on his home life, with dysfunctional parents played by Michael Rapaport (Beautiful Girls, Prison Break), and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight, White Boy Rick), a teenage sister played by Brigette Lundy-Paine with issues of her own, and his social life holding down a job, navigating relationships, and dealing with the struggles of growing up and being autistic. It’s such a great show that feels so real and truthful.

Just weeks after Sara Gilbert announced her departure from her daytime show, The Talk, Gilbert has been added to the third season of the Netflix series, Atypical. Gilbert will play “Professor Judd, a university Ethics professor who is generally irritable and chronically underwhelmed, yet capable of compassion.” I think this is a great addition to the cast of smart, comedic, and dramatic actors.

We don’t have word yet as to when Atypical will be back for Season 3, but I’m just happy to know it’s on its way. What do you think of Sara Gilbert as Sam’s professor on the series?
