Sarah Jessica Parker Gives Updates on the Future of SEX AND THE CITY, HOCUS POCUS 3 and THE FAMILY STONE 2
Emmy Award winning actress Sarah Jessica Parker has played many different roles over the years that have remained fan favorites, with films and series that continue to return in sequels and reboots.
While her most iconic role of Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City franchise has come to an end for now with the cancelation of her sequel series And Just Like That…, the actress spoke with Variety on the red carpet this week at the Golden Eve gala in Beverly Hills, and touched on the show’s future, stating that she’s up for reprising her beloved fashion-obsessed character, but it all depends on one person and one person only – Sex and the City creator Michael Patrick King.
“I hear lots of very original ideas, all lovely and well intentioned and often very clever, but the only thing that really matters is what excites Michael Patrick King. And right now he’s just not thinking about that,” Parker said.
She was also asked about the sequel Hocus Pocus 3, which is the next project in the works for Parker, and she replied, “They’re working on it. Where Bette [Midler] goes, I go. Bette is like a 13-year-old girl with a new bike. She’s like, ‘I have wheels, let us travel.’”
Finally, Parker was asked about the ongoing efforts to make a sequel to the 2005 film The Family Stone, which co-starred the late Diane Keaton. “I’m so excited…but it’s a rather bittersweet quandary given the loss of Diane Keaton,” Parker said of her co-star.
“But it was a very special group of actors, and prior to Diane’s passing, there had been conversations with everybody, so I hope that we’ll be able to. The hardest thing is everybody’s schedules.”
I love each of these franchises and films, and I look forward to seeing any of them move forward with more content. Stay tuned for updates on what’s next for SJP.
