Sarah Paulson Talks About Giving Her Friend Pedro Pascal Money When They Were Young Actors So He Could Eat
Two of Hollywood’s most talented actors, Sarah Paulson (American Crime Story, American Horror Story) and Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, The Last of Us), are close friends who go all the way back to their college days, when they attended the NYU Tisch School of the Arts together. The pair have stayed in touch, and even appeared together in a recent episode of Saturday Night Live, in which Pascal was hosting, and Paulson dropped by to play.
In a recent interview with Esquire, Paulson talked about the pair’s past, and the starts of their acting careers.
“He’s talked about this publicly, but there were times when I would give him my per diem from a job I was working on so that he could have money to feed himself.”
Pascal himself says he was unsure he would ever be able to break out and land a breakout role:
“My vision of it was that if I didn’t have some major exposure by the time I was twenty-nine years old, it was over, so I was constantly readjusting what it meant to commit my life to this profession, and giving up the idea of it looking like I thought it would when I was a kid. There were so many good reasons to let that delusion go.”
Of course, now we know Pascal is one of the most sought-after actors in the business. Paulson agrees, adding:
“Everybody wants a piece of him. You just want him to succeed. And that to me, I feel like, is the sign of a major movie star. I’m ready for him to take the reins from the guys from romantic comedies past, like Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson and all these guys.”
It’s so fun to hear stories about good people in the business who came up together, and are rooting each other on in the process. Paulson can next be seen in the horror thriller feature Dust, and Pascal is currently starring in Season 3 of The Mandalorian, with the film Drive-Away Dolls with Matt Damon premiering this September.
