SAVAGE HOUSE Trailer Unleashes a Wild 18th Century Comedy with Richard E. Grant and Claire Foy
Paramount UK has dropped the official trailer for Savage House, and it looks like an absolutely unhinged ride through aristocratic chaos.
If you’re into sharp, irreverent period comedies with a bite, this one feels like it’s aiming straight for that sweet spot. Think powdered wigs, social climbing, and total madness wrapped into one delightfully twisted package.
The film comes from writer-director Peter Glanz, who previously helmed The Longest Week, and this latest project leans hard into absurdity while poking at class, power, and privilege in 18th-century England.
Set during a brutal pox outbreak and the political tension of the Jacobite uprising, the story follows Sir Chauncey Savage, played by Richard E. Grant, and Lady Savage, played by Claire Foy.
This duo is chasing status and wealth with zero self-awareness, leaving a trail of scandal, destruction, and awkward social disasters behind them.
The film’s official description reads: "Duels erupt like sudden thunderstorms, alliances crumble over candlelit dinners, and the Savages’ stately home becomes a stage for absurdity and brutality alike."
The humor looks dark, the situations spiral quickly, and the characters feel like they’re constantly one bad decision away from total collapse.
Alongside Grant and Foy, the cast includes Bel Powley, Kila Lord Cassidy, Jack Farthing, Richard McCabe, Vicki Pepperdine, and Pip Torrens.
There’s definitely a vibe here that fans of The Favourite will recognize, with that same mix of sharp humor and social satire, but Savage House looks like it’s pushing things even further into chaos. It isn’t just poking fun at the upper class, it’s throwing them straight into the fire and watching what happens.
The film is set to hit UK cinemas on June 5, 2026. As of now, there’s still no confirmed US release date. Savage House looks like a weird, chaotic, and very fun period comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
