SAVED BY THE BELL Star Dustin Diamond Has Passed Away at Age 44
Saved By the Bell star Dustin Diamond, known to fans as Samuel “Screech” Powers, passed away today at the age of 44 after battling lung cancer. Just three weeks ago the actor was diagnosed, and a rep for the actor said in a statement today that since then, the cancer spread rapidly and Dustin did not suffer.
The actor began acting at a young age and started his career in the film Big Top Pee-Wee, then went on to play his most famous role of Screech back in the series Good Morning, Miss Bliss, which then turned into the series Saved By the Bell. He went on to reprise the role in the series’ follow-up shows and movies and made appearances in many projects since.
In his co-star Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s podcast, Zack to the Future, Gosselaar speaks often about how great of a young actor Diamond was. He had great comedic timing and was a joy to work with.
He definitely passed away too soon, but will always be remembered for his role in Saved By the Bell.
